The
much anticipated 5th album from the Skydiggers
is here!
Recorded at Chemical Sound
in Toronto and Slack Studios in sunny Vancouver,
Desmond's Hip City marks a shift in musical
direction that will please old fans and gain new ones. Produced
by Andy Maize, Josh Finlayson
and Ronnie von Johnnie, "Desmond's"
continues the Skydiggers' pursuit of the best possible performance
coupled with the best possible music. Rest assured, Desmond's
Hip City delivers both with the Skydiggers' usual
diversity of musical styles.
The
album (named after a record store in the Brixton suburb
of London, England) features many great guest performances,
including
Lewis
Melville on
pedal steel and dobro, Anne Bourne on Cello,
Oliver Schroer on Violin, Jim Cuddy
on piano and Weeping Tile's Sarah
Harmer, who sings on "Dear Henry".
Released
in conjunction with DROG and the Skydiggers' own record label,
Hip City Records, Desmond's Hip City will
be in stores on July
2nd, 1997.
