It's been said, you are what you eat. Well,
consider this smorgasbord of 24 brand new songs (and two
poems) nourishment for your soul. Each artist was
given the task of creating a song with food as the central
theme. Ranging widely in style, this musical potluck includes
spoken word, rock, hip-hop, folk, roots, country and pop.
A unique community of artists can now proudly say, this
is my food song that I created for you - just as master
chef gives birth to a new and exciting recipe. For a brief
musical moment in time, these culinary artists dine together.
You are their invited guests.

Four & Twenty Blackbirds Baked in a Pie
(A message from the chef)
Everyone has an intimate relationship with food-indeed it
is a carnal pleasure shared by all. Old or young, male or
female, rich or poor, we all enjoy a good meal, and can
any one of us say who enjoys it more? What of music? Food
(and music) can weave a spell which we are powerless to
resist. Will we not consume too much when given the
opportunity? Do we not eat that which we know to be unwholesome,
blinded by the compelling lure of a taste which is good?
And how much time passes from when we protest "I am stuffed"
till we wander back to the table looking for more? And there
are the cravingsŠ Who has not found their mouth a-watering
by the merest thought of some tasty morsel? We must have
it. Hunger casts civilization out from our midst, and brings
forth the venomous fangs of primitive desperation. Ah, I
am hungry now and must go for a snack.I am back. Music is
the food of the gods. Food is the music of the dogs. Oh,
to be a dog tickled by such an extended range of taste and
sound. The minstrels herein have set before us the most
delightful of repasts. Indeed it is A Feast Fit for Kings
and Queens, but one in which we can all partake.
For this we give thanks.-Lewis Melville
This album is dedicated to small farmers everywhere.
They are forever in debt, and we are forever in their
debt.
