Nestled
quietly in the vast agricultural fields and plains of Saskatchewan
lies the enchanting and mystical community of "Melville",
a village not unlike the majority of all small towns in
Canada. A community that Canadians are all too familiar
with. A mindset of pure Canadiana, influencing the works
and writings of some of the great northern explorers of
our time. These towns, villages and communities have been
the lifeline for such artistic minds as Neil Young,
Stompin'
Tom Conners, and Gordon Lightfoot.
Toronto based Rheostatics continue that
fine tradition, informing our inhabitants of our great land,
history and popular culture.
Melville
is a state of mind in which all true Canadians can relate.
The Rheostatics took this frame of mind
and converted it into a critically acclaimed recording.
Recorded at Toronto's Reaction Studios with Michael
Philip-Wojewoda producing, Melville contains happy songs
about sad subjects, diaries of childhood and travel, and
serious tracks on the nature of love and the Canadian psyche.
Rheostatics romanticize the diversity of
our land and wax patriotic on this recorded
