This innovative interactive CD-ROM is a compilation of
10 songs with fascinating documentary material on hard-rock
mining in northern Ontario. Awarded 1st place in the interactive
category at the 1996 New York Exposition of Short Film and
Video, this is arguably the first music CD-ROM to incorporate
well-researched information on an interesting topic outside
of and yet related to the featured band.
The songs, which are a mix or country, rock and folk, have
been described as evocative and moving. Each one is linked
with stories about mining life in Northern Ontario, and
the CD includes such intriguing features as a map of the
mines which links to a database of mining-related deaths
searchable by name, company or date. The CD, which was produced
by a group of graphic artists, is highly innovative and
is accessible to anyone with a 486 or low-end MAC.
