Chris Brown & Kate Fenner

Of course the names sound familiar.

As one quarter of the trans-Canada soul patrol known as The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, Chris Brown and Kate Fenner are well known and beloved to audiences across the country. Over the course of ten years, two albums, two cassettes, and countless national tours, the eight-member Bourbons established themselves as an unstoppable live band with charisma and talent to spare.

Geronimo is Chris Brown & Kate Fenner's second album since parting with The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir three years ago. Following the 97' release of Other People's Heavens, Brown &Fenner traveled North America extensively. This year, their truck saw them through a tour with Ani Difranco, and kept pace with the Barnaked Ladies, serving as the support act while Chris was pinch-hitting on organ with BNL. The album was recorded by Scott Harding in the fall Orange Music in Orange, New Jersey. The majority of the music went down in a week of live studio performance with band members Tony Scherr (bass), Mike Mazor (drums) and Michael Blake (saxophones). The band is currently touring to support Geronimo which is released on Chris & Kate's own label, b-music. Chris Brown and Kate Fenner are distributed by D.R.O.G. in Canada, and by P-Vine Music in Japan. Junichi Uchimoto, from the liner notes of the Japanese release of Other People's Heavens: "Wonderful, and I feel happy. Meeting the good music makes us happy, doesn't it? Heating, but not quickly. Our mind is getting warmer and warmer. I can describe this album like that. When you forget the precious things in your mind, I recommend that you listen to this album. Their music will remind you of them." Chris & Kate can be contacted in New York through Mary Arsenault at Be-Bop Communications Inc., 212-358-9092
