The Hoofbeats are a
regional Canadian band with a unique hoser perspective. Made up of Brad
Forwell, Lewis
Melville, Ian Pattison, Steve
Potter , Joel Hunt,
and Murray Ritchie, the Hoofbeats
play roots music from the region of Ontario that begins north of Guelph
and spreads all the way to Tobermory.
The Hoofbeats debut album "Have you Herd?"
is an excellent introduction to the music of Ontario's heartland and an
fine addition to any collection of great Canadian music. It's music
that sounds great even after the cows come home. Long, Hard Kiss, the
band's contribution to the Truck Songs
theme album, was featured on a CBC television National News special on
trucking.
Their latest album, Mayflower,
was released in November of 2005, and marks a return to an acoustic
bluegrass sound that is part of their common musical heritage.
