Martin Posen is a talented acoustic guitar
soloist from Toronto, Ontario. He began his professional
music career at the age of 21 at Winfield, Kansas, placing
in the top ten finalists in the National Flat picking Championships.
For the next decade he refined his unique acoustic and electric
guitar and mandolin skills, performing across the county
in a variety of different bands, ranging from such diverse
styles as folk, country, rock n'roll, jazz and bluegrass
music, with groups such as Black Creek, Station Road, and
Mark Haines and the Zippers.
Inspired and encouraged by Michael Hedges,
whom he met at Interlochen, Michigan, at the National Music
Camp in 1973, Martin began to evolve his unique brand of
solo guitar instrumentals featuring his hot finger picking,
flat picking and percussive techniques. Martin's music is
difficult to classify since it crosses many musical boundaries,
but you will hear shades as diverse as Doc Watson and Michael
Hedges in his guitar playing. It fuses together all his
eclectic influences to create a new sound that will enthuse
and delight guitar aficionados of all backgrounds.
