For the past fifteen
years, Mansa Sissoko has been performing across
Mali in village and major centres like Timbuktou, Segou and Bamako,
and for five years with one of the Malian greats, Habib Koite . Brought up in a special
village called Kita in Mali, Mansa is of the Malinke people who, in
his words, are “cultivators of the soil, …the root of so much of the
traditional music coming out of Mali… of blues… of jazz. We are a
healthy root, alive and well.” Griot, singer, kora player and
songwriter, Mansa Sissoko comes to Canada to tell us that
"life
is a good thing."
Mansa has just released
his new album 'N'tomi
'.
and has summer 2004 concerts in
Canada:
