Dave's guitar

Based in Guelph, Ontario (Canada).

DROG's guiding principle is to bring together musicians and challenge them (in a positive way) to make more and better music. We also seek to find dignified and stimulating ways to pursue our musical careers in parallel with, or as an alternative to the mainstream. One way is through initiating our various compilations (Truck Songs, Music For Peace, Food Songs), or by presenting special live shows in our home town of Guelph, sometimes involving up to 100 musicians. We do not "sign" artists or release recordings by individuals or bands. Rather we are an umbrella organization that seeks to sustain and expand our community, maintain visibility, and keep an archive of our past accomplishments. We believe that developing songwriting and performance skills are the best way to further an artist's career, and that presenting dynamic and interactive live shows are a key element to both enjoyment and success.

We also believe that promoting the diversity of artistic expression on a regional, national, and international level is critical to preserving our cultural identity, and encourage small record companies everywhere to keep up the good work. We also encourage the cooperation and exchange of ideas between musicians and artists everywhere!

Good luck and make great, wonderful music.

The Creation of DROG

Founded in the autumn of 1993 by Dave Teichroeb and Lewis Melville, DROG exists in order to create opportunities for like-minded musicians who need an organization to represent their unique musical interests. DROG is designed to help the artist both financially, through low overhead and shared responsibility, and creatively, by drawing upon a team of knowledgeable, skilled, supportive musicians and industry insiders that make up DROG. We are distributed by Outside Music across Canada. DROG is more than a record company; it is a network of information created by musicians for musicians with specialized career interests.

Dave  Teichroeb
-President/Promotions
Founder and president of DROG, Dave Teichroeb is a born organizer and catalyst.  Dave has two solo CD's and two releases with the Dissemblers. In 10 years he has supervised production on the release of over 70+ album projects and worked closely with 30 DROG "label" bands. A solo singer songwriter guitarist and former manager and bandleader of Dizzy Maroon and Dissemblers, Teichroeb is very familiar with both sides of the industry.  From booking tours to Germany and selling his band and DROG at Midem and  SXSW to approaching the majors for recording publishing and distribution deals he has learned from the ground up.  A graduate of Lethbridge Community College in 1984, Dave worked ten years in the Water Engineering faculty of University of Guelph before going full time with DROG. A highlight of his career was the creation of Green Sprouts Music Club. A fan/merchandise branch of his favourite band, the critically acclaimed Rheostatics. Eventually this led to re-releasing the Rheostatics first two albums and helping with tours, T-shirts and all forms of swag. Teichroeb now lives in San Marcos, Texas where he writes, sings, plays and swims almost everyday. He has built a home studio and recording his 3rd solo Album.
